Gayath represented the Sri Lankan schools national basket ball team in 1992 and continued to support and uplift the basketball in all levels in the country.

He created GAJA Sports in contributing towards the welfare of the sports and he has become the main sponsor for local and foreign sporting tours. He became the president of Masters Basketball Association (MBSL) in 2018 and under the guidance of him MBSL was able to organize tournaments for the veteran athlete in year 2021 amidst Covid – 19 pandemic and it recorded over 350 participants. Seeing the results of enthusiasm of participants in the previous tournament with gayath’s motive he conducted other tournaments amidst the global economic crisis in the following year.

Being the CEO of the number one sports channel in Sri Lanka, GAJA TV Covers all the sporting activities in the country. With the blessings and continue administration of Gayath the team GAJA TV has created tailor made TV programs for sports enthusiastic and they address for the betterment of younger generations of the country.

He was able to raise a fund GAJA MIthuro for those who needs help in hand for living. Through the program he has been able to help to government sector hospitals and donations has been distributed for the community development programs.
